Local Information and LinksGreater Chattanooga is home to nearly half a million people and is located within a day's drive of half the population of the United States. During the past two decades, Chattanooga has achieved national and international renown as a leader in sustainable development. These broad-based community efforts ultimately brought the prestigious President's Council for Sustainable Development to the Chattanooga Convention and Trade Center in 1995. The President's Council was a forum for business and government leaders to build strategies for environmentally responsible economic development. Chattanooga's beautiful natural environment, and its respect for that environment, make the city an attractive destination for visitors from throughout the world. The Tennessee River winds through the city, and residents and visitors alike may share the beauty of the river courtesy of Chattanooga's riverfront redevelopment project. Among the highlights in the downtown riverfront area are the Walnut Street Bridge; the Tennessee Aquarium; the Bluff View Art District; Ross's Landing; the Creative Discovery Museum; and the IMAX 3-D Theater. The riverfront walkway offers a serene spot within the city for "getting away from it all." A wide variety of restaurants and hotels provide fine dining and lodging in the downtown district, all within walking distance or a short shuttle ride of the Convention Center. The Center stands alongside the downtown Marriott Hotel; and the Chattanooga Choo-Choo Holiday Inn, the Clarion Hotel, and the Radisson Read House Hotel are all located very near the Center. The Center and these hotels often work together to provide convention packages that are top-quality, yet economical. Contact information for the hotels follows: Chattanooga HotelsThis is far from a comprehensive listing of hotels available in the Chattanooga area, but serves as a representative listing of the hotels available.
